Update...

Ok first off... The 1 Voice Billboard is up.  For those of you that aren't too sure what I am talking about, we were included on the billboard for the community center's gala as a sponsor, which means... The Phoenix Chapter of the Church of Craft has it's logo nice and big over the city of Phoenix!!!
On_vioce_billboard
ok so not huge, but the name recognition has begun...

In other news..  I am working to find us a nice big (free) space that we can use for the meetings, so please bare with me while I work on that.  Some of the places I have checked out have a fee and I was thinking that maybe we could swap "classes" for space.  So if any one would be interested in participating in teaching a class to help the Church have a space please let me know.  I am thinking that the class would be once every month or every two months (meetings will still be at least once a month) and if a few of us volunteer we should be able to trade for the whole year.   Anyways I will give everyone a meeting schedule once we have that part figured out.

Other than that.. Please look for the article about the Church in tomorrow's (Saturday Sept 8th) Arizona Republic, the Craft My Ride Contest starts on Monday!!!  So check that out, and remember.. the Church of Craft welcomes everyone, if you are not participating in the community project that's ok we still want to see you, so please bring what you are working on so that we can chat.  Thanks to all...

Just what I was thinking...

Here is the proof for the promo visuals for the "Craft my Ride" contest that is being sponsored by Scion (Toyota).  Next week I should have a press release about the contest that may include more information.  Good luck to all of you that may be competing...

Craft My Ride

Full_scion
OK PEOPLE!!! Here is the deal.. I was contacted by a marketing firm in LA who is doing a promotion for Scion (Toyota) called, "Craft my Ride."  The contest launches on the 10th of this month (which is Friday) and although I can't give all the details (gotta be fair) basically the idea is to come up with car accessories for a Scion that are hand-crafted.  The winner gets a new Scion (which would rock, we have an xB and I love it).  {This is a picture of our little Scion with half of Lucky 15 packed inside.}  So go to the site on the tenth (Friday) for all the info on how to enter.  I will approach Camelback Toyota Scion, to see if they will allow Participants to use there Scions for measurements etc., I will keep you informed on that.  Other than that, Church members should be excited that we were contacted because of the Church and that means that we are starting to be recognized as a viable organization... GO CHURCH OF CRAFT.  Thanks to everyone that came to Saturday's meeting, the next community meeting is on Sunday August 19th at 2 pm...  The round robin garment will be there ready for the next person...  I will post a picture of it soon.  Happy Crafting...

Back on track...

This summer has turned out to be a really crazy one...  But slowly but surely I am getting back on track..  Lucky 15 has now moved to a web store and because of that we will have to move our meetings.. next door to Copper Star Coffee...  Now in time we may find that we need more space but for now this will be the spot.  It has also been requested that we move the meeting day... so now we will hold the meetings the first Saturday of every month, so in saying that our next general meeting is Saturday, August 4th.  The consensus is that the meetings should be in the afternoon so I am calling the meeting at 3:00 pm...  We will iron this out at this coming up meeting to try to come up with a time that best fits the majority...  I know that everyone is working on their contribution to the community projects and Greta has donated a silk suit to start the round robin with...  Please email me if you have any questions... Hope to see you all there at the next meeting.

I am so excited!!!

Chalk_phoenix_2 The General Meeting for June is over and I am so excited for the community project that we have decided to do...  As I mentioned in the last (couple of) post(s) we are going to be doing a few round robin garments for the One Voice Community Center's gala event in October.  I hope that we don't make more garments then guests at this thing...  The flock is buzzing with all sorts of ideas.  We went through our closets and pulled out the foundations.  This will be a fun project.  Don't forget meetings are open to everyone so if you want to be a part of this you only need to show up...  The next community project meeting is June 24th at 2 ish (at Lucky 15).  We will be attempting to make our own dress forms!!!  It's going to be FABULOUS!!

June General Meeting...

It's First Friday again and you know what that means...  The general meeting of the Church of Craft the Phoenix Chapter...  This month we will have a few things going on.. The Arizona Republic will be here to take pictures for an article that Kathy Cano Murillo (the Crafty Chica) is writing about the Church here in Phoenix.  Also my friend Mitch from the One Voice Community Center will be here to answer your questions about the gala that the community center is hosting in October.  Remember that our first community project is to design and construct a "Round Robin" Altered garment for the Fashion Show at the Gala..  Please come with your questions for Mitch and a garment or other material that you would like to use as your part of the dress..  Remember that we had talked about maybe doing a his and her ensemble so if you have more then one piece please bring it all!!!...  We will be mapping out what we are doing with the garments and deciding on who is going first... Please feel free to bring friends and snacks plus any other project you would like to work on...  The meeting is being held at Lucky 15 Paper Arts (7th Ave and Indian School) at 6:30 pm.. See you all there.
